I have completely shifted from windows xp to linux mint 16 recently, i have a canon lbp 2900b printer which i was using previously in windows.

Hi I have found both a Getting Started Guide here: and a User Manual (more comprehensive) here: I've also looked through them and there is no mention of duplex printing capability, nor does the paper path shown in the manual show it as possible. The only way to double-sided printing is therefore manually. To do this Print the odd numbered pages of the document (in properties box). Remove the paper from the outlet and turn it over.

Replace it in the paper feed tray with the blank side facing you. Print the even numbered pages of the document. Please be careful to make sure that page 2 prints on the other side of page 1 and so on through the document, as it is very easy to put the one side printed pages in the feed tray with the last page, in the position to be printed first causing a complete waste of paper. Also leave the one side printed paper for a few minutes before refeeding as doing this too quickly can result in a paper jam.

Jannie, There is no specific XP driver for the LBP-800. You can however download and install the Windows 2000 driver in its place. I got this information from Canon for my LBP-800 and it now works fine with XP. Log on to: www.canon.co.uk From the home page select 'drivers' from the quick links menu. Select the LBP-800 from the printers drop-down list.

Select 'Windows' as a type of operating system and 'English' as a language and click on 'GO'. Select 'LBP-800 CAPT Driver for Windows 2000, Rev. 1.11 (1.001.005)' and then select 'I072_enx.ex'.

Choose the option to save the file to disk. Save it to your desktop. Double click on the downloaded file and unzip to the desktop. > clear the field 'Unzip to Folder' and type in LBP-800 and click 'Unzip'. (28 file(s) unzipped successfully) Please follow these steps to install the driver after the download: 1. Click the Windows Start button. Click Control Panel.

Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then Printers and Faxes. Click Add a printer.

Select Local if your printer is attached directly to your computer. Uncheck the box next to 'Automatically detect your printer', and then click 'Next'. Select a port and click 'Next'. Click 'Have Disk' and navigate to the folder containing the downloaded and unzipped driver files. Use the 'Browse' button. The file name is 'CAP1SETK.inf'. Then click 'Open'.

Click OK when the 'Install from disk' window pops up. Select the Canon LBP-800 and click 'Next'. Select whether or not you want the printer to be the default printer and click 'Next'. If your printer is turned on and connected, select Yes to print a test page and click 'Next'.
